An experience like no others! Imagine being out there in the ocean witnessing one of the most thrilling events: the Mexican Sardine Run! Every year, from mid-October to mid-January the waters outside Magdalena Bay filled with huge sardine bait balls that attract a lot of predators like marlins, mahi-mahi, dolphins, sharks, sea lions and even whales! It’s a real underwater feast and we will be right there in the middle of the action! Get ready for a real adventure and be part of this crazy and unique annual event. The perfect experience for those who love the ocean, adventure, spend time in nature and connect with like-minded people.

Itinerary
DAY 1
You adventure starts in La Paz, BCS. We will meet you and the rest of the group at the agreed meeting point to start our journey to San Carlos. Once we get there, we will jump on the boat to cross Magdalena Bay and reach our unique accommodation on Magdalena Island. It’s time to settle down and relax. This will be our incredible home for the next 4 days. We will enjoy a panoramic hike and admire a beautiful sunset overlooking the Pacific Ocean. A delicious dinner and a bonfire under the stars will be waiting for us. The perfect plan to get to know each other and start this amazing trip.
DAY 2
Wake up early to the colour of the sunrise to enjoy a quick light breakfast before we start our journey out at sea. It will be a long but rewarding day. Get ready to navigate the Pacific Ocean looking for action. The birds we will let us know where the bait ball is and we will be ready to jump in the water to witness nature in all its glory: mahi mahi, sea lions and marlins eating thousands of sardines!! What a show! Keep an eye for whales, you never know what’s our there! We will enjoy lunch on board followed by a bigger lunch once we get back to the campsite. It’s time to rest and enjoy the area. If you still have energy, feel free to grab a kayak or a paddle board or go on a hike! Dinner will be served at the main palapa.
DAY 3
Another beautiful day at sea! Another early start to experience another Ocean Safari that we are sure will give us many many emotions. We will explore the surroundings ready to receive anything the ocean want to give us, aware that very encounter is a gift. There is nothing like being out there in the ocean looking for marine wildlife, a feeling that you have to experience to fully understand. Another quick lunch on the boat followed by a delicious meal back at the campsite. This is our last night and it will be memorable. One last night sharing magical moments around the bonfire under the stars. The people we met only a few days ago are now incredible friends we shared unforgettable memories with.
DAY 4
Time to enjoy one last sunrise before breakfast. Make sure you soak up the nature around you before leaving this magical place. We will have breakfast at the campsite and a little time to once again appreciate the beauty around us before saying goodbye. The boat will take us back to San Carlos where we will jump on the van to start our journey back to La Paz. It’s never easy to end a trip, but we guarantee you will leave Baja California Sur full of energy and gratefulness and a lot of amazing new friends.
Accommodation
We will be staying at a beautiful glamping overlooking the ocean. The location is just surreal!! This accommodation is definitely one of the highlights of the trip!
Every room has double occupancy with two double beds. Bathrooms and showers are located just outside the tent.
Guests will be paired based on gender, age, and interests to ensure an enjoyable experience for everyone.

This adventure has been designed to offer you the best Ocean Safari experience. This trip is made for people who seek adventure, wants to be in nature and love the ocean. Wildlife photographers will find the perfect event to witness and capture.
Our campsite offers very comfortable accommodation with a real bed, something you will love after many hours on the boat! Ecological toilets and showers are available outside the tent and you will be sharing it with your roommate.
We will have satellite Wi-Fi at the campsite. However, we highly suggest to disconnect as much as possible. Amazing things happen when we put our phones down and just enjoy the present moment. It’s crazy how good it feels and how deeply you can connect with the people around you. You will have the chance to charge your devices at the main palapa.
Very important: the Ocean Safaris will be long. Expect to spend up to 10 hours per day on the boat. As we all know, the ocean is huge and we simply don’t know where the action will be. Our captains work hard to make sure we have the best experience and this often means we have to go far so make sure you are well rested! The boat ride is not always the most comfortable, depending on the weather condition, but we can happily say that everything will be worth it!
Remember: this is an adventure! We will have long days at sea but the memories we will make are unforgettable!!

The most incredible weekend with the most incredible people. Fran and Alberto literally thought of everything. We visited the most incredible cenotes at the perfect time for the light and got to explore and take photos for as long as we wanted! We stayed at the cenotes which meant night dives and early morning swims, also the perfect spot for meditation and yoga. So grateful for the experience, one I will never forget!

We have created a complete experience. Unless you have any special preference or requirement, you won’t need to spend any extra money. The only extra expense you should consider is the tip for the captains. They work hard to make sure we are safe at all time and we have a great time on the boat. Your tip is highly appreciated. We suggest tipping $500 MXN per person per boat day.

A 50% deposit is required to book the experience. Once the deposit has been made, your spot will be reserved.

As we are a small business, we are not able to refund you the deposit once the payment has been made. You can transfer the deposit to somebody else to avoid any loss of money.
Very important note for everyone: the experience is subject to a minimum number of participants. In case we don't reach the minimum number required, we will refund you the deposit. We suggest you to wait until the trip is confirmed before booking flights to avoid any loss of money.

We will meet 12 pm on Friday in La Paz. The exact location will be sent to you few days before the experience.

On the last day we will leave the campsite around 9 am to cross Mag Bay and go back to San Carlos. We should arrive to La Paz around 12.30pm where we will end the trip.

The best option is to flight to La Paz as this is where we will be meeting. Another option could be to fly to Los Cabos and then take a bus to La Paz but extra travelling is required. Please make sure you arrive to La Paz before 12 pm on Friday and you flight out after 2 pm on Monday.

No freediving experience is required. All of the action will be happening near the surface. Freediving experience is always a plus but it is not necessary to be able to enjoy the experience.

Yes! Bring wetsuit, fins, mask and snorkel. If you need to rent any freediving equipment please let us know when booking.

We will be staying at the most beautiful glamping overlooking the ocean. The location is just surreal! This accommodation is definitely one of the highlights of the trip. Every room has double occupancy with two double beds. Each tent has its own eco shower and bathroom just outside.

The Ocean Safaris are definitely the main activity as we will be spend two days on the boat up to 9-10 hours each day. At the campsite, we will have access to kayaks and paddle boards as well as hikes overlooking the Pacific Ocean. At night we will enjoy bonfires and deep conversations under the stars.

Sardine bait balls is a real feast and marine banquet that attract many predators like sea lions, striped marlins, Mahi Mahi, dolphins, sharks and if we are lucky enough even whales (Humpbacks and Brydes)! Expect to see a lot of action underwater!
Of course, keep in mind that wildlife is unpredictable and you never know what you will find out at the sea. Every encounter is a gift, especially when you think how big the ocean is. The best attitude is to have no expectations and be able to appreciate whatever the ocean is giving us each day. We guarantee it’s going to be a once in a life experience!
